Madagascar  or in Malagasy “Madagasikara” . The Republic of Madagascar is an independent state located in the western Indian Ocean, separated from Africa by the Mozambique canal  of 415 km. Its capital is Antananarivo

Située au sud de l’Équateur, dans l’océan Indien, Madagascar est la quatrième île la plus grande du monde (587 000 km²) après le Groenland, la Nouvelle-Guinée et Bornéo, séparée du continent africain par le canal du Mozambique. Located in the south of the equator in the Indian Ocean, Madagascar is the fourth largest island in the world (587,000 km²) after Greenland, New Guinea and Borneo, separated from Africa by Mozambique Channel. The  distance between the west side of Madagascar and the coast of Mozambique is estimated at less than 400 km from the coast west of Mozambique. 

 Les grandes villes sont : Antananarivo (centre),  Antsirabe, Tamatave (Toamasina) côte Est, Diègo-Suarez (à l'extrême nord), Majunga (Mahajanga au nord-ouest), Fianarantsoa (aux portes du sud), Tuléar (Toliary au sud-ouest, Fort Dauphin (Tolagnaro au sud-est).
